Services


We have a variety of services through the month, on Sundays and midweek, and welcome all ages to any of them. Transport can be arranged, particularly for the elderly, who might otherwise find it difficult to get to any of the services. Please contact us if you would like further information.

Traditional

Sunday

8.00am

Service of Holy Communion. This follows the 1662 Book of Common Prayer using traditional language and is a quiet and reflective service : 45 minutes.

Sundays
(as advertised)

6.00pm

Choral Evensong. This is a peace-inducing service in which the ‘song’ of voices sounding together in harmony is heard at the ‘even’ point between the active day and restful night, allowing listeners time for restful contemplation  : 45 minutes.

 

Mainstream

Sunday

9.30am

Parish Communion (except the 3rd Sunday of each month). The main service at St Helen’s and suitable for all ages. When you come to a service, you will be given a booklet which will enable you to share fully in the service.Children who are rising 4 and above leave their parents at the start of the service to join their own Junior Church groups. A specially dedicated “children’s corner” where there is a carpet, cushions on the floor and bags of toys to play with, is available for children under the age of 3 in the Lamer Chapel. Parents and carers are welcome to make use of it at this time. After the service there is the opportunity to meet others over a cup of tea or coffee in the chancel : 1 hour 10 minutes.

Contemporary

1st Sunday

3:30pm

Kids Worship.  This is an all-age informal service aimed at family groups and younger members of our congregation [held in St Helen’s School Hall] : 45 minutes.

2nd Sunday

6:15pm

Impact Worship. Our youth service  : 1 hour.

Services at St Peter’s

1st Sunday 6pm A contemplative service focussed on finding God through all our senses; but using pictures, poetry and nature. 1 hour

 

2nd Sunday 10.00am A family-friendly, informal service of worship at 10am, blending the traditional and the modern. 1 hour

 

3rd Sunday 6pm A more traditional evening worship with Holy Communion. 1 hour

 

4th Sunday

 

6pm An evening service inspired either by the Celtic tradition (connecting with God through the natural world and every day experience of life) or singing music of the Taizé community. 1 hour
