The large tomb with two life-sized figures bearing the date 1558 commemorates Sir John and Margaret Bostock, the parents of John of Wheathampstead who became the 33rd Abbot of St Albans Abbey.
In 2017 work on the new Visitor Centre at St Albans Cathedral uncovered the remains of Abbot John, who was identified by the three seals for Papal Bulls which had been buried with his remains.
