Growing in Faith
Helping each one of us draw nearer to God by deepening our understanding of our Christian faith
Building on a wide range of social and study opportunities offered in the five years to 2016, we seek to encourage all our members to make progress in their own journeys of faith through private and group study, recognising that we can often support each other along the way.
For St Helen’s and St Peter’s in the period to 2021 we aimed for
- having 10 new people participating in study groups by 2021
- confirming at least 20 adults and 20 young people over the five years
- presenting opportunities for all age groups in the parish to develop their Christian experience through a range of worship, social and teaching activities – and through opportunities to serve
Up to March 2020:
- several new faces joined in a series of short courses on faith and science, ethics and the Bible, as well as the annual Lent courses.
- 4 adults and 15 young people were confirmed in 2017
- A wide range of worship, social and teaching activities have been offered, eg Messy Church, Thy Kingdom Come, quiz nights, Start course and men’s steak nights.

During 2020 teams are working on raising the profile of home communion, strengthening the role of prayer in church, trialling a noticeboard in the churchyard to present thought-provoking messages, running a confirmation course in autumn 2020 and arranging a service wholly led by children and young people. |
