Archdeacon Jane visits St Helen’s Church!

The Venerable Rev Dr Jane Mainwaring is our guest preacher at Sunday’s 10am Parish Communion Service. Do come to church to extend to her our Warm Wheathampstead Welcome and to hear her preach.

The service will livestream on our YouTube channel and website. Click here – or on the image above to join our 10am live-streamed Parish Communion service. Or click here to view it via our website.

Over the past eighteen months different members of our congregations have “gone the extra mile” in what they’ve done for the local community, the church and individuals.  Who would you like to nominate as a “Lockdown Hero” to thank them for all they’ve done?

We will invite everyone nominated to send us their favourite hymns.  In the coming weeks we’ll sing these as our praise to God and thanks for the way individuals have risen to the challenge to “Love our neighbours as ourselves” during the pandemic.

Click here to nominate your hero or heroes.

As Lockdown lifts, we recognise that for some, easing of restrictions brings additional risk to themselves or those they love who remain vulnerable to the virus. As a sign of our love for one another, and in order to to protect you and others who come to church,

  • We continue to request that face coverings be worn in church.
  • We encourage use of the hand-sanitisers and registering with the Test & Trace QR code.
  • We will keep alternate pews closed, unless we reach capacity.  Then we will fill up the empty pews from the front of the nave.
  • The congregation is now able to sing from behind face masks.
  • We will continue to receive communion in one kind, standing in the crossing.
  • Please continue to have conversations after the service in the churchyard.
  • Post-service refreshments will remain on hold

We will keep these arrangements under regular review. Thank you for your support in this.

Watch our choir ‘live’ on tour!

Our choir, supplemented by some choral friends, will be singing in Exeter from 30th July – 1st August: Evensong in Crediton church on 30th and then the cathedral on Saturday and Sunday plus Eucharist on the Sunday morning.

If you’d like to watch and listen, services from Exeter Cathedral will be livestreamed via this link
https://www.exeter-cathedral.org.uk/worship-music/live-services/

The services will also be recorded and available to view after the event.

The Ark

We are currently running the Ark through the holidays outside at St Peter’s. Lots of space and no masks outside. Everyone welcome, it’s a very friendly group, suitable for babies and toddlers.
Every Wednesday 9.30-10.30am. Free play followed by singing.
Numbers are limited. Please email Linda at 58linda.thomas@gmail.com to book your place, giving the name and age of your children.

SAVE THE DATE!

Coffee in Chancel is 10 years old in September. We have a special birthday tea planned for October 10th. You are all invited!

P.S. We are recruiting! Speak to Hilary 07712791625 or Sally 07792102646 If you think you could help with serving drinks occasionally – or even with clearing up afterwards.

Sad News about Kimbilio’s Jean Bosco

I am very sad to tell you that Jean Bosco died from Covid on Friday. Richard and I met him in 2019 when we went to the DR Congo. He was such a quiet, humble man, but a driving force behind the whole Kimbilio project. Our prayers go to his family and the larger Kimbilio family.     Linda
