This Sunday morning we will not have the choir to lead our singing. As part of our ongoing trial of the digital organ and the choir singing in the chancel it was suggested we should experience some services without the benefit of the choir leading us.  We very much hope this will be the last Sunday morning service without a choir.  However we’ve chosen some cracking hymns for the congregation to enjoy singing so we very much look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning forthe 10am service.

I am sure the choir will be in fine voice for Evensong at 6pm.

 Covid Update

Following government easing of restrictions and the continued fall in local case numbers, masks are no longer required during services in church. However, ensure there is a safe space for those who wish to continue wearing a mask in order to keep themselves and others safe, the PCC has agreed that the choir stalls in the SW corner, and the pew behind the font would both be areas where we would ask people to continue to wear face coverings through the service.

SERVICES ON SUNDAY 27TH FEBRUARY 2022
All are welcome at our services

Living in Love and Faith – 10am Service followed by discussion
Join us at our 10am service next week and stay afterwards to join a discussion led by Bishop John on the Church of England’s excellent resource on human identity, relationships, marriage and sexuality.  This might not be something you normally discuss over coffee, but these are huge issues facing the church and society and it would be good to be well informed. The discussion will be from approx 11:15 and will finish by 12:15pm

If you can’t join us in church for the service, please join us online. Click here or on the image for the Youtube link or click here to view from our website.

Transfiguration Evensong Service

All are invited to join us at this beautiful, traditional service of Evensong with lovely music. 6pm at St Helen’s Church.

If you can’t join us in church for the service, please join us online. Click here or on the image for the Youtube link or click here to view from our website.

ASH WEDNESDAY
2nd MARCH
Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, a season of reflection taking us on a journey with Jesus to the events of Holy Week and Easter.

All are welcome to join us at 8pm for our Ashing Service in St Helen’s Church.

LENT COURSE 2022
Last chance to sign up!
Wheathampstead Churches Together is pleased to be able to offer an “in-person” Lent course again this year, with sessions held at each of the three churches in the village. The course will be based on material from Inclusive Church which is designed for groups to explore how churches can welcome and include everyone regardless of issues such as disability, mental health, sexuality, poverty, ethnicity and gender.

The course is made up of six sessions.  A choice of times and venues is offered.  The course will begin after Ash Wednesday (March 2nd) and will end before Easter (April 17th). If you are interested in attending, please sign up by clicking here to indicate your preferred day/time slot. You can also sign up via paper forms in church.

Our Charity Partner, Azalea, needs your help!

Azalea subscribes to FareShare which provides Azalea with 100 kg of food a week.  This is usually milk, cereals, soups and tins of basics such as baked beans, tomatoes, fruit and vegetables. These items become the basis for the weekly food bank. In addition a volunteer takes a weekly trip to the Milton Keynes depot and picks up any produce that has been over ordered by the supermarkets or just about to go beyond its sell by date.  This food is then given to Azalea volunteers to make individual frozen meals.  These provide nutritious well balanced meals the women can use to supplement their diet.  Currently they are making approximately 100 a week and the fresh produce also gets cooked for the weekly Alpha meal and the Wednesday drop in session. The combination of these two sources from FareShare help entice the women into the Azalea centre where the real work of befriending and support can begin.

Azalea needs your help to continue paying its subscription to Fareshare. They need approximately £2200 before March – their renewal date. Are you able to contribute a little towards this? Please contact Vicky Puttock (vputtock@yahoo.com)
