HOUSEHOLD SUPPORT SCHEME
St Albans City and District Council have been given funding by Hertfordshire CC to distribute to individuals and families who require additional support with food and fuel costs. Please click here to email Helen or Richard if you would like to refer individuals and families for support. The following groups will be prioritised but you can refer anyone to us if you feel they require help. They do not have to be claiming state benefits to be entitled to help from the household support fund.

  • Families and individuals recently placed in temporary accommodation.
  • Families and individuals on a low income who have recently moved into new accommodation and who require basic essentials as a result.
  • Individuals who have recently left prison or a long term hospital stay.
  • Individuals who have no recourse to public funds.
  • People on zero hour contracts who are suffering a reduction in their hours and income.
  • Individuals and families who are waiting for a decision on a benefit application.
  • Individuals and families whose benefits have been ‘capped’ or sanctioned.
  • Individuals and families who have additional expenses, especially high energy costs, due to an illness, disability or mental health condition.
  • Individuals and families on a low income where an essential appliance has failed which they cannot afford to repair or replace.
  • Individuals and families fleeing domestic violence or who have been the victim of a crime.
  • Individuals and families who are entitled to state benefits but who have not received payments from previously announced energy support schemes.
  • Individuals and families on a low income who are in severe debt, especially those in arrears with their energy suppliers.
  • Individuals or families who have not previously received help from the Household Support fund.

Launch of a book of 20th Century social history written by member and local resident Terry Holden centred around
Mid Herts Golf Club in Gustard Wood

The story is written from Terry’s unique perspective of this attractive and historic golf club where he has been a member for some 60 years, with his father having been Course Manager between 1963-1973.

The book covers a wide variety of different subjects, ranging from Nature and Wildlife to High Profile past members, and from Neighbours and Buildings surrounding the Common to Club Officers, Trophies and Champions, all woven together by Terry’s narrative of his personal experiences, and generously illustrated with coloured maps and photographs.

All contributions from the sale of this book, after expenses, will be donated to THE BRAIN TUMOUR CHARITY, being very poignant to Terry having been diagnosed with a brain tumour himself in 2001, as was his late daughter Emma at the age of 15, who flourished for a further 17 years, before passing away in 2004.

200 copies of the book, which is being sold for CHARITY, are now available to purchase at a cost of £20 each. Payment can be made via BACS transfer to T S Holden via Sort Code:20 74 09 Account No:30515280

Please then confirm by email transfer has been made to terryholden55a@hotmail.com

Collection can then be arranged from 55A The Gatehouse Ash Grove Wheathampstead AL4 8DF, or alternatively local delivery can be an option.
