A message from Madinah Masjid (Oak Road Mosque) in Luton:

May the peace and blessings of God be upon you.

It is with pleasure that we invite you to the Afternoon Tea at UKIM Madinah Mosque Open Day at 128-130 Oak Road Luton LU4 8AD on Sunday 29th September between 11am and 5pm.

The organisers aim to make local communities more familiar and comfortable with Islam, a great faith associated in the press with censure and negativity.

There will be sumptuous delicacies, drinks, tours and gifts, so invite your friends and colleagues and bring them along. There will be free parking opposite the mosque, in the Luton Town Football Club car park.

We look forward to welcoming you and your guests with a hot cup of tea and warm samosas.

Kind regards and Wasalaam,
Maqsood Anwar,
Madinah Mosque.

Would you like to have fun with Bible stories?
I’m looking for a few more people to help with our work at St Helen’s school:

Wednesdays
A group of us go in every Wednesday,  2.40-3.20pm to lead the very popular “Open the Bible” assemblies. If you would be happy to “stage manage” a few child volunteers acting out the story or just to read the story in a clear voice, this could be for you. It’s great fun and you don’t need to commit every week as there is a rota to support me or Richard.

Thursdays
On Thursdays I run a lovely afterschool club for 5-9 year olds. I read a story and then we do a very simple craft for about 10 minutes. I really need someone to set out the craft things on the table while I’m telling the story. The club runs 3.15-4.15 for about 6 weeks each term. Last year I had 14 children.

If you are interested in either “opportunity” do come and chat to me – it’s really good fun and very rewarding and a lovely way to develop the link with the school.

As we take safeguarding very seriously in the Parish, you will need to follow the safer recruiting process for volunteers and may need to apply for a DBS check
