15-Nov Online Service & Kids Worship

Welcome to the weekly update from St Helen’s and St Peter’s Churches.  Including…

  • Film and crafts for Kids Worship
  • A chance to stay connect to our church family on Zoom
  • Details of and link to our Online Sunday Service
  • An appeal for funds to keep the Online Services going in 2021.

As we cannot meet for Kids Worship this Sunday, here is a recent edition of Open the Book, a weekly assembly made for St Helen’s school. Jeremiah the Prophet has been thrown in a well – can he get out?  Join in with the prayer and try out the actions to the song at home!

Shhhh!  Don’t tell anyone, but it’s not long until Christmas!

The team at church are busy making plans for a very different Christmas, and we’ve teamed up with the Parish Council for two initiatives which we think you will enjoy.

  • The “Knitivity Trail” will be back on the High Street. (from early Dec)
  • Decorate a window as an “Advent Window” on the theme of any Christmas Carol (or Christmas song) – and add your home to the Advent Trail round the village.

You can find details of both by clicking this link – and there are prizes available.

Online Service at St Helen’s – Sunday 15th November

This week in our online Sunday service, we continue our Learning During Lockdown focusing on the importance of our relationships, how all of us are interconnected and the danger of isolation and loneliness. Click here, or on the image above to watch it on YouTube.  Or Click here to go to our website and watch this and our previous Online Sunday Services.

Financial Appeal to keep the Online Sunday Service going in 2021.

Amazingly, in the last 90 days over 1,000 different people have viewed our YouTube videos a total of 3,400 times.  Our online service provide invaluable support at a very challenging time.  But producing them is time consuming and relies on a few key volunteers.  Continuing as we are now simply isn’t sustainable.  To keep producing the Online Services for the foreseeable future we are investing in additional technology which will reduce the workload – including the purchase of an additional camera and a new video mixer. The total cost of the new equipment including, hardware, specialist software, installation and VAT is over £6,000.

Could you support us by making a donation towards this unexpected cost?

  • You can donate online, click here for details.
  • Use the contactless card reader in St Helen’s Church (max £45 per transaction)
  • Or by cheque payable to “Wheathampstead PCC.”
