As we emerge from the the pandemic we are here to help you navigate your way forward.  After five “Best Foot Forward” walks, we are now going to run some “Best Foot Forward” Café sessions in July. They will give you space reflect and learn from the past year, so we can face the future well.

Just like the walks, there will be space for your own personal reflection, as well as giving us the chance to share our experiences of the pandemic with others. Although this is a church-led initiative, we welcome all and will shape the tone of the talk to suit the participants.

Feedback from the walks has been very positive. But don’t take my word for it, here’s a taste of what others wrote…  “One of the most helpful things I’ve done in lockdown and really insightful.”  “Extremely valuable and helpful.”

There are three Café-based sessions available: Tuesday 29th June, Monday 5th July or Wednesday 14th July – all in St Helen’s Church from 10:30 to 12:00. Just turn up! Alternatively, if you have any questions, you can email me by clicking here.

Hertfordshire Personal Safety Survey

Following the death of Sarah Everard earlier this year, the County Community Safety Unit (CCSU) are currently producing a needs assessment on Violence Against Women and Girls. As part of this piece of work, we are undertaking a public survey of Hertfordshire residents to understand their experiences and feelings of personal safety, which will help to inform recommendations for the needs assessment.

The survey is now open and will remain open until Friday 9th July and can be accessed using the web link below.

https://surveys.hertfordshire.gov.uk/s/XFEVX8/

The survey is open to males and females of all ages to enable a comparison of experiences and feelings of safety between males and females.

The people of Wheathampstead were remarkably generous towards Christian Aid Week this year, giving a wonderful total of £5,213.75 (including Gift Aid).  This is the highest figure for the village since 2013.  Warm thanks to everybody who contributed to the appeal, which will be so helpful to some of the poorest communities in the world.

The Ark comes to St Peter’s!

Whilst we are unable to run the Ark Toddler group in St Helen’s, we are trialling running it outside at St Peter’s for this half term.
Wednesdays 9.30-10.30am. Free play followed by singing. Socially-distanced baby only area inside.
Numbers are limited.
Please email Linda at 58linda.thomas@gmail.com to book your place, giving the name and age of your children.

HELP NEEDED!     SPREAD SOME LOVE TO THE YOUNG FAMILIES IN THE VILLAGE
Linda would love one or two people to help her welcome families to the Ark at St Peter’s. There will be minimal setup at 9am then you are free to chat with Mums and children whilst being an extra pair of eyes in case of any problems. We will end with singing before packing up. Please email Linda on 58linda.thomas@gmail.com if you can help!

‘Fifty Treasures of the Beds and Herts Area’ is the title of an interesting and beautifully illustrated book produced by The Arts Society of Beds and Herts. It features pages on Wheathampstead and St Helen’s Church but also many other places of interest. It gives suggestions as to where you might want to visit on a day out in our local area.

The book is on display in St Helen’s Church and costs only £5. If you would like to buy a copy please contact Pippa Legg 01438 832949, 07748002962 or pipparlegg@gmail.com
