Welcome to the midweek email from St Helen’s and St Peter’s Churches. Including…

  • last chance to get Christingle kits
  • Family Carol service, tickets still available
  • Exciting news about Christmas Eve!

Online Christingle service available from December 11th

Have you got a Christingle kit for your children or Grandchildren? We have kits being used as far away as Switzerland!!
If you would like a kit (you just need to supply an orange) for a child or grandchild not at St Helen’s school or Beech Hyde School and Nursery, please contact Linda at 58linda.thomas@gmail.com before Dec 14th
Tickets are still available for our very first Family Carol Service this Sunday at 4pm.
This service is based very much on the Traditional Lessons and Carols service, but this time we are led by the Junior choir. This service is not just for families!
Come and enjoy traditional carols, beautiful Christmas choral music and a retelling of the Christmas story as the characters themselves are filmed around our village. Click here to book.

Have you seen any of the Nativity characters out and about?

Like or Follow us on Facebook @StHStP or Twitter @StHStPChurch to make sure you see all our news.

Our knitted Nativity figures are out and about – on social media (Facebook and Twitter) travelling around the parish and hiding in High Street shops as part of the Parish council’s Knitivity Trail.

Exciting Plans for Christmas Eve!

Calling all our wonderful Volunteers!
Let’s bring the festive spirit this Christmas to Wheathampstead!

Government guidance now permits congregations to sing carols – providing they are outside and are following Covid safe guidance!

With this in mind, we are organising two outdoor carol singing events on Christmas Eve – an outdoor version of the rather fabulous Crib Service, which is loved by so many families with small children, at 4pm.  Followed by an outdoor “Carols for All” event / service at 6pm. To allow the best social distancing these will now be on Rectory Meadows (not the churchyard as originally advertised).  These will be our most significant events of the season – and the safest way to join in our Christmas celebrations.

We are urgently need volunteers to help with marshalling, encouraging social distancing, ensuring Covid safety measures are followed and taking a collection as people leave. You can also take part in the festive sing along!

We need teams to help set up (2:00-3:30pm);  to marshal the Crib Service (3:15-5:15pm); for the Carols for All (5:15-7:15pm) and a team to clear up afterwards (7:00-8:00pm).

Please think about how you can support this outreach. Contact Karl on karl@deleisure.com with your offer of help – or any questions you may have.

We’re here for you and help is at hand!
We have set up teams offering both pastoral and practical support, so please let others support you – they are keen to do so! Hilary Hollick is helping organise this – so do contact her by email here, or on 01582 832567.  Alternatively call the village wide helpline “Support for All” on 01582 380910.
