SUNDAY’S SERVICE
Join us in St Helen’s Church at 10am for our All Age Communion Service. We’re back with the home team this Sunday! Do join us in church. If you can’t join us in church, please join us online. Click here or on the image above for the YouTube link.
Lights Up – volunteers needed, 1 hour slots
During our vacancy it’s really important to make sure we are still visible in the village and do everything we can to encourage people to come all our Christmas services. We will be handing out free children’s books, flyers and chocolates at Lights Up on Thursday November 27 th from 5.30-8.30pm

I need a group of willing volunteers to help me –

  • 4.00-5.00pm 4 people to help erect a small gazebo and carry a table, flyers and sweets down from church
  • 5.30-8.30pm at least 4 people every hour to hand out goodies, talk to people and generally show them that the church is still here and we are nice friendly people!
  • 8.30-9.00pm 4 people to clear up and take down the gazebo
Please email Linda at 58linda.thomas@gmail.com and let me know which slot(s) you could do, just one hour would help! Thank you!
Our church community has, for the last three Christmases, supported the Christmas Lunch on Jesus (CLOJ) charity which provides Christmas lunch hampers to those in need.  We place an order for a number of hampers which Helen Caldwell collects from the Hertfordshire delivery hub which is usually in Hatfield, brings back to St Helen’s church and then a merry band of volunteers collect and deliver the hampers around the village.

The date for this year will be Fri 19/12 or Sat 20/12 (TBC) and unfortunately Helen will be away on those days.  In order to offer this wonderful Christmas support again we need two or three volunteers with cars who will be prepared to collect the hampers (usually about 30 large boxes), bring back to church and coordinate the deliveries with the volunteers.  If you think you can help with this then please get in touch with Helen on 07974 762997.

THANK YOU FROM AZALEA!
Azalea is very grateful for the 52 Christmas stockings made by the talented seamstresses at St Helen’s.
In total, 53 stockings were made by a team of 11
Huge thanks to everyone who have worked so hard.

Vacancy Prayer Themes for 27th November
  1. Please pray for regular attendance and a fresh commitment from the congregation. If people are unwell or away for a long time we pray for their health and speedy recovery.
  2. Please pray that we would have wisdom when reviewing the program of activities and commitments the church has. What is feasible and wise to do in this period.
  3. Please pray for good communication. People need to feel both informed and listened to. This includes the wider community not just the church.
  4. Please pray for how people are feeling, their emotions at this time of change. We want the soul of the church to stay healthy.
The usual Morning Prayer sessions will continue to run in church (Monday and Tuesday) and on Zoom (Monday – Wednesday).
Two Concerts at YWAM, The Highfield oval.

Celebrating their 40th anniversary The Kings Chamber Orchestra will be celebrating all the years they have been together! This years Christmas concert titled “The Light Fantastic” will be a performance filled carols, stories and music from the silver screen, amid Classic favourites by Tchaikovsky, Nielsen, Strauss, Mozart and many more. KCO continues it’s faithful journey performing the most beautiful music spontaneously and with great joy.

This year’s Teddy concert will also be a tremendous 40th anniversary party. Always aiming to produce fun and games for the children there will be lots of interaction, lots of famous music, and lots of bonkers moments that all families will enjoy. Aimed at families young at heart KCO has played concerts for several decades delighting humans between the ages of zero and 100.
