Our church community has, for the last three Christmases, supported the Christmas Lunch on Jesus (CLOJ) charity which provides Christmas lunch hampers to those in need. We place an order for a number of hampers which Helen Caldwell collects from the Hertfordshire delivery hub which is usually in Hatfield, brings back to St Helen’s church and then a merry band of volunteers collect and deliver the hampers around the village.
The date for this year will be Fri 19/12 or Sat 20/12 (TBC) and unfortunately Helen will be away on those days. In order to offer this wonderful Christmas support again we need two or three volunteers with cars who will be prepared to collect the hampers (usually about 30 large boxes), bring back to church and coordinate the deliveries with the volunteers. If you think you can help with this then please get in touch with Helen on 07974 762997.
Lights Up – volunteers needed, 1 hour slots
During our vacancy it’s really important to make sure we are still visible in the village and do everything we can to encourage people to come all our Christmas services. We will be handing out free children’s books, flyers and chocolates at Lights Up on Thursday November 27 th from 5.30-8.30pm
I need a group of willing volunteers to help me –
4.00-5.00pm 4 people to help erect a small gazebo and carry a table, flyers and sweets down from church
5.30-8.30pm at least 4 people every hour to hand out goodies, talk to people and generally show them that the church is still here and we are nice friendly people!
8.30-9.00pm 4 people to clear up and take down the gazebo
Please email Linda at 58linda.thomas@gmail.com and let me know which slot(s) you could do, just one hour would help! Thank you!
Please pray that the church remains forward focusing, that current projects and outreach receive support especially for families and children.
Please pray for the leaders of our Sunday morning worship and all those who hold meetings. May God bless us with quality and continuity so that the church feels fed and supported.
Please pray for the Pastoral care in the church. That people feel connected and cared for. Pray for the building of new relationships and friendships at this time.
Please pray for the Welcome team and any new people or visitors to the church. We want people to feel welcomed and to come back.
The usual Morning Prayer sessions will continue to run in church (Monday and Tuesday) and on Zoom (Monday – Wednesday).
