Music
The singing for our weekly Parish Communion is led by an enthusiastic and proficient 4 part all-age choir. The choir also lead the worship at our monthly Evensong service on the first Sunday of each month. New members are always welcome; do contact the Parish Office (01582 834031), if you would like to know more. Practices are on Thursday evenings.
St. Helen’s possesses a small but very effective 2 manual and pedal pipe organ, constructed by Hill, Norman and Beard in 1968. It is played at nearly all regular and occasional services, including weddings and funerals.
The Parish orchestra plays on Sunday mornings about 4 or 5 times a year.
St. Helen’s and St. Peter’s are fortunate in having in their congregation a number of proficient amateur and some professional musicians, representing a wide range of instruments and musical styles, who are willing to play and sing for formal and informal acts of worship at both churches in the Parish. We always welcome new musical talent, and are praying especially for keyboard players who enjoy leading worship.
