We’re delighted you’re thinking of baptism for your child. Your child is precious to you and precious to God. At baptism you promise to raise your child to know God loves them, and to help them to follow Jesus as a member of the Church. In turn the Church will promise to support and pray for you and your child.
The Church of England website is a useful starting point if you have any questions about baptism: https://churchofenglandchristenings.org/
Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship. When you speak to your vicar, he will invite you to attend a confirmation course. This is a good way to explore your faith with others who are thinking about confirmation and is a safe place to ask any questions you have about God, Jesus and the journey of faith.
Please contact the church office if you would like to be confirmed, or for your child to be baptised in St Helen’s or St Peter’s Church. Give the necessary details, such as your/your child’s names, address and date of birth to the church administrator. The clergy will discuss the matter further with you and complete the appropriate forms with you. As a guide, we usually conduct baptisms every 3rd Sunday of the month (except December) and hold mandatory preparation sessions for parents throughout the year. For dates in 2016 and 2017, please contact the Parish Administrator on 01582 834031.
